The AEBS is designed to detect road users and
objects in the vehicles path and, when a collision is imminent,
apply the brakes to decelerate the vehicle. Deceleration
depends on many factors including driving speed and
environment. AEB is controlled via the AutoPilot system with
inputs from camera vision, map and geo-positioning data, and
motion sensors.
Once active, AEB signals the drive inverter to initiate braking via
3 signals:
1) AEB event: Boolean describing active/inactive AEB state from
DAS,
2) Accel min: minimal longitudinal deceleration in m/s2, and
3) Accel max: maximal lateral deceleration in m/s2
Based on these signals, the drive inverter outputs a brake
torque command to the service brakes, the UI displays a visual
warning and a chime sounds to alert the driver, the braking
pedal moves abruptly downward, and the brake lights are
turned on to alert other drivers.
