The train is quick and easy. Did it last summer (drove from Norway to UK on a „let us try and see if it is possible“ mission). The tip is to book a place with the taller cars (buses, trucks, campers etc… ) as they have wider tracks and will not destroy your rims. Be prepared to „defend“ your decision several times during the boarding as they will point you towards the lanes for ordinary cars. The cost is the same.
If you go where there are no supercharger then bring your type 2 cable. There are plenty of places to use it - but approx. 50 different companies operating these power outlets - so check first which companies you will need and arrange for the needed memberships/cards etc… - Do this 2 months prior to departure. Last summer it was still possible the be „the helpless tourist“ - just drive up to the charging post and call the number for tech support (usually listed on the pole) and they would almost always be able to remotely activate it (open the lid to allow me to connect my cable and then start the electricity flow) - Both UK and Germany have too many charging companies - they need to „eat“ each other to become bigger and fewer and to start accepting each others clients. Some of them seem completely unprepared for customers from another country.
